After the Conversation of the 16th May, some of
you might be interested in the following message concerning the 'war
effort' going on in the UK against HPC (Health Professionals
Council) regulation of psychotherapy and its perverse effects on
practice, practitioners and the public not to mention the HPC's
questionable use of public funds. Its author is Janet Low, one of the speakers
at the Conversation. As a sociologist, Janet specialises in the
functioning of medical institutions. For this reason she has been
employed by the Alliance for Counselling and Psychotherapy to
investigate the functioning of the HPC. Her work has revealed many
alarming points: its unethical and totalitarian approach to those it
regulates, its exorbitant cost and its position of imposture in
