Rob Houghton
Association no. W112000668
I
am a psychosynthesis counsellor and psychotherapist.
I
trained and qualified at the BAC and UKCP accredited Psychosynthesis and
Education Trust, London.
I have
been living in the Corbières, 25 minutes south of Carcassonne, since
2006.
My
professional Background
After
qualifying, I had an independent psychotherapy practice. I was also a
freelance trainer for the voluntary and statutory sectors working with
groups on counselling and communication skills.
Later, I worked full-time for the NHS as a health adviser in several
central London hospitals where I was able to offer short, medium and
long-term counselling and psychotherapy.
For five years I was an external tutor to medical students at Queen
Mary and Westfield College, London and, until I moved to France, I
taught regularly at The Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s
Hospital on the postgraduate medical teaching
programme.
Nowadays, I am happy to work with individuals in short-term and
long-term contracts on a broad range of issues including:-
Personal
growth
Difficulties coping with change
Sexuality and sexual good health
Psycho-spiritual development
Resolving inner conflict and confusion
Dying and bereavement
And
what supports me?
At the
professional level I have regular clinical supervision. Supervisors are
very experienced practitioners who review a therapist's work and give
advice. All discussions are confidential and no information is shared
which would identify a client. Personally, I am sustained and re-created
by my pastimes which include gardening, reading, music, nature and
photography. I especially enjoy walking, swimming and picnicking in this
most beautiful part of the world.
