Hello and welcome. My name is Susanne Spencer and I’m a counsellor, living in France now for four years, in south Charente near the borders of Charente Maritime and the Dordogne. I also work as a coach and personal development trainer. My passion is personal growth through self-awareness and creativity.

I have an M.A. in Creative Writing and a Diploma in Professional Studies in Counselling from Manchester Metropolitan University. I’m also a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Code of Ethics.

In England I worked as a student counsellor and lecturer in counselling skills in a further education college in Cheshire. I moved back to Dorset in 1993 where I was Practice Counsellor for a G.P. practice for four years. I also ran a private practice. I have worked with people experiencing relationship problems, anxiety, bereavement and loss, as well as self-esteem, confidence and related issues.

My own life has been many ‘lives’, so I am familiar with change. I have two beautiful grown-up children and was free at the age of forty-eight to take a year out to backpack round the world. It was exciting, challenging, fulfilling, sometimes lonely and scary but it was my choice. Other changes just happened to me … as they do. So I believe I understand what is involved in facing and embracing the unfamiliar, and its accompanying emotions, in a way that allows us all to blossom and grow. I would love to work alongside you in this way.
